Netflix has a TV show? One that I actually sought out with the intent to watch? AND IT'S ACTUALLY AVAILABLE TO STREAM? :wtf:

Running from the plastic dude,
Really does seem quite rude,
Doctor's here to save your butt!
Either that or he's a crazy nut.

Have the first episode open in another tab right now. So far it seems pretty good, the part with the plastic mannequins coming to life was really creepy. Hopefully this series will deliver deliver where Battlefield: Earth (I think that's what it was called?) failed.

It only gets better! The first series is hit and miss and sometimes overly 'child friendly' *farts*... definitely stick with it for a few seasons at least before making your mind up! Hopefully you will end up loving it as much as we all do! :p

Enjoy! :)

After years as a devout anti-Whoist, the second episode of the new series and its journey to the far future hooked me.

Once you've been hooked (and you will be), make sure to take time to sample earlier stories from the 1960s-80s which I'm sure are on Netflix as well, to get a real appreciation of the vast history this series has. (And no the season you're watching now was specifically designed for people who'd never seen the show before, and even as the series progresses you can still get by without having seen a single episode from the earlier years. But they're worth checking out. When you're ready, you'll be able to find threads (or simply ask the question again) recommending which stories or seasons to check out.

But for now, all I'll say is I envy you. I hope you are a complete newbie (I mean that in the best way) so that everything you see in the episodes ahead is new (and news) to you.

Battlefield Earth? Are you referring to that terrible movie with John Travolta. Trust me, the absolute worst Doctor Who episode is Shakespeare compared to that film!

Series 1 has some real gems, including "Dalek," "The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances," and "The Parting of the Ways."

Christopher Eccleston is tragically underrated in some circles as the Doctor because he only did one season. But I agree with the above poster on his best stories. I would have to add "Bad Wolf" which nicely sets up the events of "The Parting of the Ways" and has a great cliffhanger to boot.

"The Unquiet Dead" is a fun gem for me in series 1 with some great Eccleston moments.

Wording this so as to avoid spoilers, I think Eccleston's time on the show was unique because it allowed his episodes to form a single cohesive set. I won't say arc, but they did feel complete. Whether this was by luck or by design is a matter of debate, but what matters is it works. I don't think he's underrated at all, personally. He just persona non grata in some fan circles because unlike the other actors he presently has no willingness to ever play the role again. But the same was said of Tom Baker and Paul McGann too.

Oh I don't for one minute think of Chris Eccleston as underrated but some seem to at other sites I have been to. Which I think is ridiculous. I never thought of his one season as being a single, cohesive set before, but you may be onto something there. I also hate the word arc as in story arc, so I am glad you used a different word.
