It seems Diana Wynne Jones has passed away

I have articles here and here. The second one is in Spanish.

Diana Wynne Jones was an author of charming, clever fantasy novels with quirky but very believable characters. Some of my favorites included Fire and Hemlock, A Tale of Time City, and Charmed Life. She also wrote Howl's Moving Castle which was adapted into a delightful Miyazaki film.

It's strange that there are only two news articles about this, but if it is so, I am very sad to hear it. She wrote the best, funniest book about fantasy fiction ever written as far as I'm concerned, called "The Tough Guide To Fantasyland". I cannot recommend that book highly enough - wonderful, hilarious and very loving deconstruction of fantasy fiction. A talented lady.

I loved that book, too. It made me wish she had really done some of the other Tough Guides mentioned in the book, just to see what her take on them would have been.

Oh I bet those would have been great!
