is Yoda a telepath?

I think Vader in ROTJ definitely suggest telepathy. Not sure how else he figured out Luke's sister was Leia, what with the romantic feelings and all.

ETA: They need to create a Godwin rule for Star Wars. As a Star Wars conversation grows longer, the probability of mentioning Luke/Leia incest approaches 1.

He doesn't actually figure out that Luke's sister is Leia, merely that Luke has a twin sister. No specific name is mentioned or implied.

As far as Jedi and telepathy goes, my impression from the movies has always been an ability to discern surface thoughts, hence Yoda knowing who to search for (of course, Luke likely told Yoda his own life story off-screen at some point), as well as Vader telling Luke that his feelings betray him during the aforementioned scene. That could also work with Palpatine and Luke while Luke is watching the battle around the Endor moon, but I don't think anyone would need telepathy of any sort to know how worried Luke would be at that point about the fleet and his friends on the moon.

OK, I guess I misremembered the scene slightly.

Your theory works as well as any.

I'd say it's more an ability to use the Force to read strong emotions and possibly the thoughts behind them.

Thus the logical conclusion is that Counselor Troi was a Sith!
