Is there a better way for Picard to Make up for Yelling at Wesley then inviting him on the bridge?

It stands to reason that only people who have been authorized beforehand by Picard (or Yar, in his absence) should be permitted on the bridge. All Picard has to do is tell Yar "no kids allowed", and instruct the ship's computer not to open the bridge doors if an unauthorized person is present. If he doesn't do that and a child wanders onto the bridge, don't blame the child.

As I recall, Wes just rode up with his mom and looked out through the turbolift door without stepping onto the bridge. That seems respectful and reasonable. Are bridge officers supposed to kick civilians off the lift first if they're on their way to work?

Although, to be fair, Wes could have gone to the holodeck and simulated the bridge if he was that curious, right?

I'd think that depends upon the reasons the bridge would be off-limits to civilians. If it's only because there should be no interference from them, simulating it on the holodeck would be no problem. If it's (also) because the exact configuration of the bridge is a (pseudo)-military secret, probably an exact simulation of the bridge (down to which programs are accessible from which console and so on, and readouts of the exact specs and such) would be off-limits too.

I absolutely support Wesley as an ensign and beloved part of the crew because I do not take Star Trek 100% seriously.

But it's on Picard because Wesley was in the turbolift not on the bridge. No sense freaking out over that.

Kid should have jumped up when the comm met.
