Is it time to put Star Trek to rest?

The thing about Kes was just she was a poorly thought-out character, nothing more or less. I think had Jennifer Lien had been given a different role, maybe have her be the worldly one and drop all of the Ocampa nonsense, we might remember Voyager a bit differently.
I think it was just a classic case of the character not working out. Sometimes those things happen. Its not like the character didnt get chances to shine.

With Chakotay, why should writers waste time with an actor who routinely gives a flat performance? Contrast him with Mar Alaimo, who brought so much to Dukat that the writers kept bringing him back. Janeway, 7 of 9 and the doctor got the focus because they were the most interesting characters. If it had been up to me, those three would have been the only constants on that show while the rest got written out(with the exception of maybe Tuvok) That cast was too big

It says an awful lot that the flattest, most boring recurring guest actor on DS9 was just one of the three Ziyals. Almost everyone shone on that series. Even the mediocre returning character would have been at least B-tier on other Trek shows.

Garak was my favorite character on that show.

A lot better than some of the main cast, IMHO.

Youngest son is Benjamin. Definitely driven by DS9, but flexible enough he could use other sources if he didn’t want to acknowledge the Trek connection.

Yeah our son is not named after Jonathan Archer, but the show was on when she was pregnant, and we just liked the name.

It seemed to me Guinan was just too much of a burden.
