Is Daneil Radcliffe forever typecast as Harry Potter?

There really wasn't anything Harry-Potter-ish about his childhood performances in "December Boys", or, "My Boy Jack" (both 2007). Nor is there anything Potteresque about any of the characters he has played on stage, nor in his upcoming portrayal of 60s beat poet Allen Ginsberg in the film version of "Kill Your Darlings" (2013).

I think being typecast isn't anything he needs to worry about.

Even if he were to have trouble getting work in film, I'm sure he'd be able to find steady employment in the theatre. And the guy's already a multimillionaire because of his work on Harry Potter. He'll be fine. :)

I enjoyed Radcliffe in Woman in Black, but we did keep making Potter references, but that was mostly because it was a supernatural movie. I think he will be fine.

I must admit, I did say "Expecto Patronum!" the first of the 800 times that shadowy ghost snuck up behind Radcliffe. The Woman in Black was an incredibly boring movie, though, so that's the excuse I'm using for saying it rather than Radcliffe being typecast, which I don't think will be a major problem for him since he's already branched out and made some bold acting choices (like Equus).

I'm still interested in seeing The Woman in Black. My friends all did the play when I was in college, and it was awesome.

Out of the three, I think Rupert Grint was always the best actor and he's been in the most movies (most variety of roles, too). Radcliffe and Watson are starting out in trying to break free of their prior roles too, he started more early.

I don't think he'll ever be free of Harry Potter, but I don't think he will be typecast as Harry (or, more accurately, trapped as Harry since type cast refers to the type of character, not one individual). People will probably always think of him first as Harry Potter, but I don't think that will prevent us from watching other movies where he plays a different kind of character.

I don't know about Daniel Radcliffe but I do think that Tom Felton will continue to be cast as a bully.

Felton's already been cast as a wannabe Ghostbuster in some modern ghost story (Apparition, I think?) with one of the Twilight girls.

This reminds me of the interview where Ron Howard said he seriously thought about doing porn just to point out to audiences that he wasn't really Opie or Ritchie.

 Billy Mumy is another great example of a sci-fi/fantasy child star that had trouble being anything more than Will Robinson.

I dunno. He did a good job for 5 years on Babylon 5 in a fairly significant supporting role as Lennier. Granted, I'm not sure what he's been on since then but then again most of the B5 cast aside from Bruce Boxleitner (Tron) and Mira Furlan (Lost's Danielle Rousseau) haven't really been seen or heard from since then.
