Is anyone else concerned about the Tone of the film?

I am having these feelings in my heart that star trek beyond is going to be very comedic , may have a lot of unnecessary humour and just be light hearted without any real threat or real danger or high stakes unlike the previous films.

I don't know, maybe its the Guardian of the Galaxy influence I am seeing that is making me think of such a thing.
I really hope Paramount did not water down and make the film very light hearted and comedic just to please a wider demographic.

Humour has always been a part of Trek. I'm expecting the tone to be about the same as the last two, which blended big emotional beats, crazy action and moments of lightness ("Are you from the future? That's great, do they still have sandwiches there?")

The trailer does not sound like fun, a humor comedy. But I agree with King Daniel. Humour has always been a part of Trek, just in the right amount in the right place.

Both Justin Lin and Simon Pegg have said the trailer completely misrepresents the movie. That being said, we know Paramount is looking to make Trek more like Guardians of the Galaxy.

Simon Pegg has said the trailer misrepresents the movie because it shows only action scenes, and he knows there’s a lot more Trek thing in the plot.

I'm not inclined to jump to any conclusions at this point, nor to read too much into any comparisons to GUARDIANS. And, yes, since when has STAR TREK eschewed humor?

"I'm from Iowa. I just work in outer space."

The movie will be here soon enough. No point in fretting about it now.

Just like Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, huh?

Nothing wrong with a little variety once in a while.

Heck, up until the new movies, "the one with the whales" was the most commercially successful Trek movie--and one of the most popular as well.

This is not a topic. All of these are things you've posted many times before in many other threads. It's a rerun of a rerun of a rerun.

If you ever feel moved again to post a "I'm wringing my hands over these same old things I always fuss about - who's with me?" thread, put that in a blog. (Strange: I feel as if I've said this very same thing to you before, and more than once.)

Thread closed.
