Is Alexander still the Federation ambassador to the Klingons

I was watching "Sons and Daughters" today and was reminded that Alexander became the Federation ambassador to the Klingons in a novel a few years ago. Does he still hold that position? I can't remember him being in Destiny.

No one else has been mentioned to hold that position since then. So in absence of new information I would assume he still is.

And I'm excluding Star Trek Online here.

I could have sworn we saw him in either Destiny or A Singular Destiny, but I couldn't find him in any of the cast lists.

He's mentioned. In the epilogue of "Lost Souls" it's briefly mentioned that Worf's heard from him. He doesn't show up in person though.

I believe Zero Sum Game mentions that he's retiring -- he's almost 18; you can't expect him to remain in the same position forever. Naomi Wildman will be his interim replacement until Troi gives birth.

I never thought Klingons went by qualifications when they hire leaders. Lets see to become captain you basically fight to the death with the people who are a higher rank. If I remember right a certain leader of the Klingons got his rank by doing just that. Ok Worf is the one who handed it to him but still.

Personally I don't think it is all that terrible that he is an ambassador. With him at least we know he doesn't have an agenda nor that he is going to backstab anyone.

Also what qualifications did worf have when they made him an ambassador? As much as I love Worf he isn't the most personable Klingon we know. Though I think he is much nicer then most of the Klingons we have met.

They don't, but he doesn't work for the Klingons. He works for the Federation. He's the Federation Ambassador to the Klingon Empire, not the Klingon Ambassador to the Federation.

Well, having been a major player in every important historical event in Klingon politics for twenty years certainly helped.

Well he did help save the federation ambassador building when it was taken over in Time for war Time for Peace. Also he helped out his father in Genesis force (I know most people on here don't like the book but I did like the sections with Worf). I also liked his section in Articles of the Federation though I thought we should have seen more of him.

Lastly we don't know what his military record is, and since he isn't dead yet his shipmates must of thought he was usefull.

However, per DS9 "Soldiers of the Empire," there are specific situations in which Klingon warriors are allowed to challenge their superiors and take their position if victorious.

The general assumption is that anyone who would lose such a fight, must have never had the qualifications anyway.

According to Memory Alpha he was born in 2366, so by 2382 he's 16. But just keep in mind Klingon develop faster than humans, obviously.

Knowing Klingons, losing a fight is probably what gets you an ambassadorship.

And to be fair, in the real world Shirley Temple was an ambassador.
