Re: IRON MAN 2 makes me wonder-Will we ever see a SUPERHERO movie wher

Tony Stark is more interesting than Iron Man.

This.

Most superheroes wear masks; most filmgoers would rather watch actors' faces than masks.

It depends on the mask. Batman's mask still allows him to express emotion. You can see his eyes, his mouth, his jaw. Ditto for, say, the Phantom or Zorro or Green Lantern.

It's only really a problem for characters whose faces are completely hidden behind featureless helmets or masks. In those case, yeah, directors are always going to be tempted to tear off the masks when you need to see the emotion of the moment . . . .

The mask is a big difference. A Superman can be on screen 80% of the time and the guy playing him can still act. In Spiderman 2 when he stops that runaway subway, having him do that sans mask had a bigger impact on me. You could see the emotion, the anger, the strain and the reactions of the passengers on seeing his face.

ACTING!!!

And the first SPIDER-MAN movie had the problem that both Spidey and the Green Goblin had their faces fully covered, which made some of their verbal confrontations fall flat. Thank God you could see Dr. Octopus's face . . . .

Most superhero costumes are retarded. Then again, so are most films about superheroes, to say nothing of the original source material. Nolan's films, for instance, succeed despite the fact that they're about a guy who likes to dress up as a bat. YMMV.

You forgot to mention the fact that the guy who likes to dress up as a bat could kick all our asses.

Arrogance does not suit idiots. Get over yourself.

You may not like it, but I don't find it at all surprising that filmmakers would be looking to tone down some of the more obviously ridiculous elements of the source material to better take advantage of film's broader audience. Same reason nuTrek didn't do a five minute flyby of the Enterprise.

I wanna see Nolan make a redo of Puma Man. There, I said it. :D
