I think I'm going to hold off for a little while. I never buy anything with a dot-zero at the end of the version number. The new iPad has some known problems with the battery overheating to support the new graphics capabilities. I'm going to see how they fix that one, as it could be a big problem down the line as the battery gets older. It looks promising, though. Maybe someday...

This is a "feature". After using the tablet for a while you can turn it over and use it to grill your breakfast!

So has anyone picked up the new iPad 3? I'm sitting here playing with mine now. It arrived around 930 this morning. I've been impressed with voice dictation and the new retina display.

Heard it was a broadband hog, especially with the retina display. Hope you got an unlimited data package with that thing. If not, keep track of usage, because at the end of the month, you don't want to have to shit bricks when you get the bill.

Just use it for couch surfing so I got the wi-fi model. No brick shitting here.

I bought an iPad 2 about 8 months ago so I won't be buying the iPad 3 but I will probably buy the version after that.

Just a general question:

What your experiences with tablets in general (doesn't have to be the iPad). Is being able to surf the web on your couch worth the price?

I'm so on the fence about them.. on the one hand i'd like to lie comfortably on my couch and do some online stuff but i could live without it since my monitor is far bigger and my laptop can do so much more stuff than mere websurfing.

Is a tablet really more than a cool tech toy (and i so love cool tech toys! )?

When my hip is bad I can't sit up and have to lie in bed. An iPad is certainly a great thing to have if that situation.

This screen...my gawd. It's awesome.

Being a complete noob to the Apple/iOS universe, I've been looking for equivalents (or better) to the Android apps I'm using. I'm noticing not a lot of crossover aside from the big-name apps from large companies. Zite is my favorite new app that I've discovered so far. It looks unbelieveably good on the iPad and contains a lot of content I'm interested in. Looking into Instapaper since it allows for offline reading, but don't want to go too crazy with the paid apps on my second day with the device.
