Introducing the Enterprise - P from the 33rd century!

I'm a fan of Scotty's line in Relics 'No bloody A,B C, or D'

every so often I see a new fan design of the latest and greatest 'Enterprise'
I'm fine with the line up to E since it's canon, but the J just gets on my nerves . . . I mean won't they eventually pick a different flagship, or retire the name?

to be honest, just about all designs after the ABCDE Enterprises are total fanwanks, including the J

I think that adding more letters on the end just cheapens the Original Gray Lady's name

okay . . . mini rant over

I have no problem with the lettering system for the Enterprise--it signifies more than just a connection to Kirk's ship but to all the other Enterprises that played a role in Federation history, IMO--but I do think the 1701-Z should be the last ship in the line and the Enterprise name retired once and for all.

Actually, I think the whole -A -B -C thing is a little silly. The next Enterprise has so little in common with its predecessors it should probably get its own number. How about NCC-81701?

Tedious....

For mine (26th century), I dropped the letters and went with NCC-170100. And she isn't the flagship of the entire Starfleet - but she is a flagship for a fleet (using a more realistic Navy meaning of that term).

I have no problem with the lettering system, though I agree they should each have a different registry number.

^ Hey, I like the ENT-J.

My only quibble is that if the name Enterprise has been such a revered starship name; each Enterprise going on to it's own glory and writing history, then the name should be retired after 1701E. 1701F would be pushing the luck of the name Enterprise and the registry number 1701.

The name should have been retired after the decommissioning of the 1701A, at least for a time. The Galaxy Class Enterprise should have been the first ship since the 1701A and if they wanted to keep the registry it would be the 1701B.

I think it's kind of cool the way they give every Enterprise the same number but use letter suffixes. I hope they keep doing that up until the Z. After that, who knows? Enterprise-AA? ;) I also liked the looks of all of them, except for one...

The Enterprise-J was ugly, I believe that, but I also know there's a reason for it. We only saw that ship in an alternate future timeline, one where the Sphere Builders are active and dangerous. It stands to reason that in a war-ravaged timeline such as that, starship technology and design would have stagnated - i.e. peaked relatively early, and not gotten anywhere near its potential. Which explains why the Enterprise-J basically looked like a souped up NX-01...I'm sure the real Ent-J won't look like that.
