A script-based series set in the time after Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, where the Federation is existing in a state of relative peace, the Dominion War over, but the rebuilding efforts still ongoing, as Starfleet recovers and continues with its main mission of exploration throughout the Alpha and Beta Quadrants.
But with the advent of peace, comes the testing of the waters by various nefarious individuals, who look upon the end of hostilities as an opportunity to once again stretch forth and make their own mark.

The Starship Courageous, NCC-41976, an older second-generation Excelsior-class vessel, was due to be decommissioned until the losses from Dominion attacks caused Starfleet Command to recall many older ships and retrofit them with more advanced weaponry in an effort to keep the enemy forces back. After taking part in the final decisive battle at Cardassia Prime, and taking severe damage to both ship and crew, the Courageous was practically rebuilt from the keel up in order to keep Starfleet with serviceable ships. Once the refit was complete, the ship was assigned to the Astraeus Sector, an area that was one of the first areas colonized as a newly-formed Federation spread out into the stars. During the final months of the Dominion War, various cartels of the Orion Syndicate made a move into the area, forcing those colonies left to fend for themselves into a protection racket.

The re-assignment of a modified Excelsior-class cruiser, the largest ship ever assigned permanently to the antiquated station’s purview, was to send a message to those in the area that any belief that the Federation is weakened by the war would be in error.
It has NOT been as successful as Starfleet Command hoped.
A random attack leaves the Courageous badly damaged, it’s captain dead, and crew demoralised, so Starfleet is quick to assign a new commanding officer, with orders to pacify the region at all costs. But with the crew unsure of their new C.O., not to mention the new officers she has also brought on board, the mission will not be an easy one.

1x01: Attention to Orders [Part 1 of 2]
The crew of the USS Courageous, an Excelsior-class starship assigned as one of several vessels in the Astraeus Sector, a long-forgotten corner of the innermost areas of the Federation now the subject of renewed interest after the Dominion War, must contend with the arrival of a new commanding officer. A standard convoy escort run allows the crew a chance to become familiar with each other. But when a distress call diverts their attention, it‘s only the beginning of a crisis that will test this crew and ship to the best of their abilities.

Admittedly, I'm not a huge fan of script-format fiction, but I was intrigued by your premise and gave part one a read. Color me invested! I now must know what happens next!

Here you go then, my dear Christina...

1x02: The Family Business [Part 2 of 2]
The Courageous barely survives a surprise attack by Syndicate vessels, thanks to the timely intervention of an unidentified vessel. Giving chase, the crew find themselves returning the favour after stumbling across the badly-beaten ship. Counselor Kellinnin deals with a surprising personal reunion, while the tension between Captain Frost and Commander Erickson reaches boiling point.

DUDE! I should not be surprised -- Romulans are sneaky little buggers. And I am glad that Erickson finally got off his high horse. I will have to read some more from you.

I'm really glad you're enjoying them, Christina! :D It's the extra buzz I needed today :D It's been a while since I've written for these characters, as work with Jon's 'verse has been keeping me busy, but I'm hoping to get back to them and the Courageousverse soon!

For your enjoyment, the next three complete episodes...

1x03: Survivors
A quiet afternoon on Star Station Charlie is interrupted with the arrival of a damaged Bajoran freighter, being pursued by Syndicate ships. After chasing away the attackers, the crew of the Courageous discover a former Starfleet officer who brings intelligence that may allow Starfleet to make a significant dent in Syndicate operations in the Astraeus Sector. Meanwhile, Kellinnin and Varrak-Sar continue to reconnect as a family, but a ghost from the Lucky Shot crew's dubious past may cause problems for everyone on Charlie.

1x04: Strategic Manuevers
Starfleet assigns the Courageous to assist the Songhaven colony in the Zephyrus system to liberate itself from the iron grip of the Orion Syndicate. With the Courageous acting as a distraction, a strike team makes planet-fall in an attempt to gain needed intelligence on the situation. They meet colony residents resisting the occupation, resentful of what they perceive as their abandonment by both Starfleet and the Federation.

1x05: Under Oath
When a scout ship from a rival Syndicate cartel crash-lands just outside of the Songhaven colony, personnel from the USS Courageous assist in rescue operations. While Erickson works with Calderon and Varrak to secure survivors who escaped into the wilderness, Dr Lanjar has her preconceptions challenged as she works to help a young Orion girl, who was being held prisoner.

Dang! I had a feeling the Orion girl was up to no good, since you're going with the explanation that was put up in Enterprise where the women are really in charge (In the BtS universe, they were back then, but there was a revolution where the men took control). These are some really excellent stories, Alex.

It's been a long while since I had anything to add/post in this thread, but I'm happy to say that the next adventure from the crew of the USS Courageous is finally here!!

1x06: Echoes Of Meaning
During a simple archaeological assignment, an energy pulse from an ancient artifact causes several members of the crew to fall into comas, including T’Sara and Lanjar. Upon the away teams return, Erickson cannot help but notice when certain members of the crew start exhibiting strange behaviour, wanting to go down to the planet despite its inhospitable conditions.
