Yeah funny that. I’ve heard people mistake Geordie accents for Scottish before.
So, anything else Intrepid related in the works at the moment? Filming is obviously problematic at present, between lockdown restrictions, plus the time of year. But anything in post-production?
Actually, knowing Scotlands' wonderful climate, what is the latest you've filmed in the year, seasonwise?
I have a few scripts in various stages. We had a successful small crowdfunder for our next film, a echoes, which should have shot this Summer. And then Covid hit. I’m using the additional time to make some tweaks to the script and a write a short vignette that will work as a prequel to that. The vignette we might manage to shoot in before Spring, pandemic permitting, then the film proper in the Summer.
I hope to shoot a couple of additional short films next year, again, pandemic permitting. I have another longer script in hand for 2022 as well.
The latest we’ve shot to date is, I think, mid October. And that wasn’t much fun.
Keep the accent.I'm not true Scottish, my father was adopted into a Scottish family and it takes me back to childhood visits at grandfather's house.
My accent’s all over the place, but it’s not going anywhere. We are trying to add some diversity in that regard (and others for that matter).
If you feel the need for diversity, fine but not because a few people shoot from the hip with misinformed comments.
I’ve always wanted our cast to be more diverse, but it’s proven harder than I expected to find people interested.
In my humble opinion you have a unique ability to blend message with story.
Diversity, communication, culture and the challenge to transverse the gap is an intrepid mission.
A quarter century ago, suffering empty nest and requiring time to deal with it. I took a trip from the great North West to the deep South East for some alone time and a good book. I found a place near the lake, sat under a tree and was really getting into the book when all of a sudden a thump landed right next to me. It was one of those old Army bags and it's wiggling with a green tail sticking out, slapping back and forth.
A voice from behind,"Mercy, bout not you be"
I thinking that I must be trespassing or something. it turns out the lake was part of the swap filled with gators and that was an invite to dinner.
Once you got away from the city and into the backwoods the people spoke a mix of English French and Yoda. Culturally it was like an insult to be unsociable and people wanted to find out as much about me as I enjoyed finding out about them.
I never did finish that book, the next 10 days was birthday parties, country dancing, fishing. community activities and even went gatoring. How would I know that walking a pretty young girls dog was next to getting hitched?
One to beam up and be quick about it.
Thanks for the kind words. And for the personal history. Sounds like quite the adventure.
That greeting video was one of my favorite fan film things ever.
Is this on YouTube, or was it a privately filmed video?
I’m glad someone liked it.
It might be on the HF channel but I’m not sure. I do have a copy somewhere. It was public at the time.
Found it. Talk about a blast from the past.
Thank you. Wonderful scenary shots, we'll talk about the accents later!
By the way, graduates of the Starfleet Academy branch at Carnoustie, aye?
And for those who care about such things, we have a blooper reel.
Thanks Nick, I needed that.
