I remember reading that Abrams and co. thought about ending Star Trek with a shot of the S.S. Botany Bay floating in space. It would have been a similar sequel set up to the Joker card at the end of Batman Begins or the map to the fountain of youth at the end of Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End, or the post-credits scenes in all the Marvel superhero movies. Should Into Darkness include a similar set up or tease for Star Trek XIII? I think this trilogy should be a real trilogy, not three sets of totally unrelated events that just happen to involve the Enterprise crew (looking at you, TNG movies). I want continuing themes and lasting repercussions.
