Interview With The Vampire AMC Show

Was shocked that I couldn't find a thread for this. Anyone watching? We are now 2 episodes in if you have AMC+ and 1 if you have cable.

Meanwhile, despite heavy(ish) promotion the premiere is an epic fail in the ratings. Just 662k tuned into the premiere - This show is almost certainly getting cancelled... and its another DISASTER for AMC who are committed to making an entire Anne Rice universe. Y.I.K.E.S.

The sad truth is that Anne Rice's Vampire series has become a victim of its own popularity. It spawned so many variations of vampire series and movies that her version of vampires is now the standard. There's just nothing new to be seen in Rice's Vampire world, even though she arguably did it best.

Second episode did not improve on the first. 525k, kind of sad since this show was clearly made with a lot of love, and high expectations.

Oh wow, I actually missed the announcement that they already renewed for season 2. Ok then, all is well in vampire-land.

I've never read Anne Rice's books or seen the 1994 Interview with the Vampire movie, so this series is my introduction to these characters and their world, and so far through two episodes, I'm really liking what they're doing.

I also just finished watching a behind-the-scenes special for the series and can't wait to formally meet the third member of the IwaV vamp trio, Claudia, because I have a feeling from listening to/watching Bailey Bass and others talk about her that she's going to be my absolute favorite character.

I have read the books and seen the 94 movie. The show has impressed me. The writing and acting are good, making Louis Creole has added some really interesting "flavor" and depth, and the show is beautiful to look at too. I'm enjoying it very much. Lestat is Perfect IMO.

So, it turns out that this season is basically about abusive relationships. Very interesting take! Acting remains top notch. Hopefully its doing well on AMC+.
