Interview with Kellie Flanagan - Blonde girl in "Miri"

I recently interviewed Kellie Flanagan, who was a child actress in the '60s on the TV-series The Ghost & Mrs. Muir. Her first television appearance was in the Star Trek episode "Miri". Kellie's the girl that's standing on the table during the classroom scenes. She shared with me some memories of working on ST, including how a little ad-libbing led to her getting her SAG card.

Adam :)

You're welcome :) And it was complete coincidence that I posted about this interview here on the anniversary of the screening of "Miri" back in 1966 :techman:

I'm amazed she even can still remember that far back. I have a lot of difficulty remembering things from that long ago, mostly just flashes of images and events here and there.

As I understand it, even Wil Wheaton doesn't really remember a lot of time from The Next Generation.

It's a good point. I've spoken to a lot of people who worked as actors when they were younger. I think that their memory for set-related stories is a complex combination of: the memorable nature of working on a show even if you are an actor and it's your job (and it was also Kellie's first show); the fact that a movie/show might be a bit of sign-post for a memory (e.g. I have lots of memories of particular things that happened at school, but they aren't attached to a particular day/time, etc. I just know they happened. She, on the other hand, can isolate things she did on "Star Trek" as that's pretty distinct); and also things that can jot your mind like being able to watch these on DVD, revisit old interviews she did from the time, etc.

Interviewing more and more people has made me very empathic if a person can't remember something - I have to keep in mind time since it happened, their age when it did, and the fact that while I might consider it so memorable, it may have just been a day in the life of. Adam :)

Adam :)

Thanks, so much adam! At my age, I remember all of those shows, and it was a nice trip down Memory Lane, especially, of course, concerning the Star Trek! :bolian:

Most welcome! I had a great time doing it, and I'm looking into some other actors from that time (including "Star Trek") for my site :)
