...6. How did you meet Gene Roddenberry?
I met him at either the second or third Star Trek convention, at the Los Angeles Airport Marriott, in the early '70s. I saw it advertised, and I thought, 'This would be kind of a hoot.' I enjoyed the show. Not a Trekkie by any stretch of the imagination, but I liked the show. I went over and paid my 10 bucks or whatever it was, and I was just walking around enjoying, and he comes walking through. I said, 'Hey you're Gene Roddenberry.' He says yes, and I say, 'David Alexander, nice to meet you, can I buy you a drink?' 'Sure!'... I found out much later that he was talking about me as his biographer several months before he bothered to tell me that I was his biographer...(Cont.)"
