Hi All,
I know JJ apparently hasn't had much to do with Lost since Season One, and this quote from Wired is in specific reference to the new Star Trek movie, but... it raises (reinforces?) an interesting idea that could relate to Lost.
“In the scene, Spock explains that (the encounter of Kirk and Spock Prime) is a result of the universe trying to restore balance after the time line is changed,” Abrams said. “They acknowledged the coincidence as a function of the universe to heal itself.”
The: "coincidence as a function of the universe to heal itself" could very well be a major factor in Lost, given the time travel elements, Desmond's jumping through time, etc...
I know this idea has been around in Lost theories for awhile, it was just cool that JJ Abrams brought it up when talking about another project of his.
