Interesting Dallas area sports fact

With the Rangers losing the World Series at home, the Dallas area is poised to be one of, if not the only area with 4 major sports championships won by the visiting team.

2000 - the New Jersey Devils win the Stanley Cup in Game 6 in Dallas

2006 - the Miami Heat win the NBA championship in Dallas

2010 - the San Francisco Giants win the World Series in Arlington

2011 - someone other than the Dallas Cowboys will win the Superbowl. This one's a bit of a stretch since the Superbowl is not played in one of the participating team's stadiums, but it did line up.

This may be interesting only to me, but I'm curious if it's ever happened before.

Hold the phone, does that mean that, if the Cowboys make it to the Super Bowl, they're going to have to change venues for it?

^ Perhaps. No team has ever played a Super Bowl in their home stadium. I don't know if it's an actual rule on the books, or just a massive coincidence.

At 1-6, the only way for the Cowboys to get to the Superbowl is to buy a ticket.

It only means that Superbowl sites are set years in advance, unlike the other 3 big sports where the games are played in the participating teams' arenas.

If the Cowboys were to make the Superbowl, it would have been a coincidence, but the venue wouldn't have been changed.

Next year there's a decent chance as the big game will be in Indy and the Colts are always near the top. Then in 2014 there will be twice the chance of it happening as the Superbowl is coming to the NY area, so you've got the Jets and Giants, who will probably be pretty good for a few years.

It's a massive coincidence. The closest anyone got to playing in their home venue was one year in the 80's when the 49ers had to play at Cardinal Stadium.
