TWOK has always been considered the best TWOK movie, and deservedly so. But over the years, it has slowly receeded into the memory of movies of yesterday past. That is until 2007. It was the 25th anniversary of TWOK's release, and to commemorate this DST released a line of TWOK action figures. They were cool, and I have quite a few of them.
But then, especially in the past year, interest in TWOK has continued to grow. IDW is adapting TWOK as a comic book, Robot Chicken has done skits based on TWOK, Family Guy is constantly making TWOK jokes as recently as a few weeks ago when the Genesis cave scene was parodied, and Seth McFarlane has said he'd like to do a Blue Harvest style parody of TWOK. And finally, we have the rumours going around that JJ Abrams wants to use Khan in Trek XII. Also, Trek XI has quite a few referances from TWOK.
So what's the deal? I don't deny TWOK is an excellent movie and the best Trek movie, but why has there been a sudden interest revival in it? What has caused this?
