Indiana Jones blu-ray speculation....

There will be a special digitally restored print of Raiders of the Lost Ark shown in LA, attended by Spielberg and a 'special guest' (presumabely George Lucas, Harrison Ford or Karen Allen):


http://www.theraider.net/ reportedly has details to follow, but I have a feeling with the word about a new print of the movie, the 30th anniversary of Indiana Jones and the Star Wars and Jurassic Park sets coming out roughly the same time, now would be a good time to announce that the first three films will get released in HD.

Hopefully they'll get deleted scenes like we're getting with the Star Wars set as well.

Does Indy even have very many legendary, "holy grail" missing scenes like SW has?

I know there was the sub thing from the first movie, but I can't think of anything on the level of the Jedi Sandstorm, Wampa Attack, or the original ANH opening.

There is some stuff but nothing quite as interesting as the SW stuff.


Raiders:

There is a scene that Spielberg reminisced about featuring a soldier about to execute Sallah. The soldier however is distracted by Indy's heroics involving the plane and Sallah escapes. As I understand there's quite an interesting backstory.


Temple of Doom has a scene that explains where Willie went to. She makes her way back to the palace and runs into the British Captain and Chatter Lal. She tries to tell the captain her story, but Lal says something that she had too much to drink or something. When the captain leaves, Lal reveals his Thugee allegiance and re-captures Willie.


There was also I think another sequence with Lal that would have him fall into the pit and turn into a skeleton, instead of leaving his fate kind of ambigious.

There's also another 'comedy' scene with Indy and Willie in the jungle.

Last Crusade has a goofy bit that was cut with a pilot trying to pursue Indy and his father in the other plane from the zepellin.


I'm pretty sure there's some missing KOTCS material

Most of this stuff is in the novel and comic adaptations, I believe.

Was there another fight with Pat Roach? I remember spotting him running towards the Zeppelin beside Vogel.

Jaws is being restored too. Spielberg is just slow with his older material being released.
