Incredible Hulk(s) comics *spoilers*

Fleet Captain
Any thoughts on the current direction of Marvel's Hulk series?

Basically, Hulk now leads a "Hulk family" including his son from Planet Hulk, his wife Betty (transformed into a red hulk like her father), She-Hulk, Lyra his daughter from some future timeline, Rick Jones (now transformed into a new abomination) and the Warbound guy who looks like a conehead version of the Thing. Basically, all these new Hulks were created in the aftermath of the Planet Hulk/ World War Hulk storyline by the Leader and his 'team' of super-intelligent bad guys.

There is also of course the Red Hulk, General Ross, who is being somewhat redeemed in his own title (Now written by Jeff Parker, replacing Loeb) and will soon join the Avengers.

Technically, the Hulk has been on teams before-The Defenders, the Pantheon and of course that short stint in the Fantastic Four during his Grey incarnation. However this is the first time there's been a real group of Hulks with similar powers. For the longest time it was mainly Hulk, She-Hulk, Abomination, Doc Samson and the Leader (With some lesser known mutates here and there, including prior temporary forms for Betty and Rick Jones). However the Abomination and Samson are dead (Although the abomination returns in the "Chaos War" storyline), and the Leader is currently depowered.

There's also the added dynamic of Bruce Banner, being written as a somewhat stronger character than the milquetoast of years past. For a few months he didn't transform into the Hulk and was able to develop technology that rivaled that of Reed Richards and Iron Man. He also seems to have better control over the current incarnation of the Hulk.

Of course we don't know how long this direction will last. The 'family' is of course very dysfunctional (What Marvel family isn't, honestly?). There are also some strong hints lately that Banner's late father, Brian will return from the dead in "Chaos War" in the form of the guilt Hulk (From Paul Jenkin's run) or something like that (The Hulk battling a monster version of his father was also shown in the Ang Lee movie).

I'm guessing that the Hulk Family thing will last until Greg Pak decides that he is finished writing the character. Honestly I stopped reading "Hulk" after the first Jeph Loeb arc of "Red Hulk".

Sounds like about 10 too many Hulks for me! But what a great story it would be if they all teamed up and decided to take over the world!! Nary a power could stand against them!! Mmmwaaahhh haaa hhaaaa haaaaa!!!

Hulk trying to take over the world kind of already happened in "World War Hulk" where he exacted his revenge over the members of the Illuminati who shot him into space and enslaved other heroes in Madison Square Garden.

Big Hulk fan here. But I dropped Incredible until Pak's gone. I'm not digging the huge family, and I'm hating jerk Banner.
(Not saying I dislike Pak by any means, I just don't care much for the direction).

But I'm enjoying adjectiveless Hulk quite a bit so far. Parker is doing great with Ross Hulk. I really like the direction they're taking Ross.

I dunno about the current direction, but I'm not really clear why Stark and Richards didn't aim that rocket for the sun.

An entire family of Hulks is a bit much, I think. The "Dark Son" story was alright though. And "World War Hulks" was just way too much as well. All those Hulked Out Heroes. Over the top!

Tony was still Bruce's friend, he wouldn't sanction killing Bruce which is why they probably decided that sending him to another uninhabited planet was their best option. It was by navigational error due to Skaar's anomaly that pulled the ship off course and crash landed.

I agree that I am a fan of Pak...I just don't like the direction they're taking with the Hulks. I thought Marvel could have really taken a chance with "World World Hulk" and used it as a status quo changing event. Wizard Magazine actually proposed a few fascinating changes that I thought were really cool like Hulk approaching Spider-Man with a possible alliance and appointing him his new Minister of Science. Stuff like that. But they would have never have gone with that. I would have maybe liked to have seen an alternate universe similar to AOA created after "World War Hulk" with Hulk becoming Maestro.

I dunno, when everyones a version of a Hulk it kinda takes away the special-ness of being a hulk. How interesting would Spiderman be if all his friends were versions of Spidermen and even his enemies were Spidermen. Kinda Lame if you ask me...

Can't say I've really been following it lately. I liked World War Hulk and was intrigued by Red Hulk at first, but then I just think they went overboard. The Hulked Out Heroes thing was just too silly for me.

I like most of the Hulks but really dislike Rick Jones as A-Bomb. The interaction between Banner and Ross has been pretty good the last few issues. I initially disliked the red Hulk quite a lot but as more of Thunderbolt Ross character has been developed the more I am liking it.

Samson sacrificed himself to let Banner turn back into the Hulk. He's 'skeleton' dead, but knowing the regenerative powers of gamma-beings I'm sure we'll see him again eventually.

General Ross isn't dead, he's the Red Hulk. A robot version was killed off though.
