This is a design I came up with today as a doodle.

It's a work in progress.

I can imagine a few people will throw up when they see it. But maybe it will grow on them. What do you think?

First of all, that is amazing. You are very talented. I'd love to be able to design one that well. But what's behind that weird thing around the roundish hull in the middle. The shape is a bit off. And what is the reasoning behind the design of the nacelle pylons? But still amazing

There's no reasoning for the pylons. I liked the design. I noticed that the silhouette was very similar to the Akira which I wanted to avoid. I added a section behind the spherical mid section to house the impulse engines.



Its a WIP. I only drew it about 12 hours ago so I can expect lots of tweaking to come. The spherical hull is something of a change to Federation design. We've seen the gold ball primary hull on the Olympic class. And those ugly golf ball science ships in Star trek Online. I decided to place the golf ball in the middle and see what happens. I'm thinking of removing the upper aft sensor pod.

That reminds me a little bit of the warp 36 ship from the Animated series.

You might have this one be Omega particle powered--with the sphere being a massive containment device.

Omega powered sounds cool. Although its illegal to use Omega so I doubt they would relax the law no matter how safe it became to use it. Its like have a genesis device powered reactor lol.

Interestingly I did think of a different power core for my Quantum class ship. It has a Hadron Collider esque device extracting energy from multiple universes instanteanously. That could fit into this ship.
