Transmission Order

The order in which they went out originally. So “Man Trap” is the first episode, etc etc. This was the order used for the DVD sets.

Production Order

The order in which they were produced. “The Cage” or “Where No Man Has Gone Before” are first in this order, followed by “The Corbomite Maneuver”, and so on.

Stardate Order

The order in which the stardates are given. A bit like Production Order in some ways, but somewhat more confusing, as it means that the episodes from different seasons are sometimes mixed in together (Season Two’s “Catspaw” takes place before Season One’s “Space Seed”, for example, simply because the stardate given in “Catspaw” preceeds that given in “Space Seed”).

Random.

I've seen them all so many times, I don't need to watch them in any particular order.

For the purpose of the poll, if I had to choose a way, it would be production order. You see the evolution of the series, especially early in the first season, when watching it that way.

During the mid-eighties, my local station showed the episodes in production order. I don't know if they were being extremely clever or if the episodes came marked that way. But it is nice to watch the rapid evolution in those early episodes.

Whatever episode I'm in the mood for. I never watch the whole series all the way through, so I guess I can't answer the poll.

Having been there from day one in 1966, I prefer the original network broadcast order, but can certainly see the logic of production order.

It's hard to say. I've seen the episodes so many times and in so many different ways that it all blends together. If I had to pick one i'd go with production order to get a better feel for how things came together and changed.

I will watch “The Cage” and “Where No Man Has Gone Before” first and then the way they are on the DVDs after that.

I've only ever watched them in random order. I have no preference, only a few that I hate and would rather not watch at all (or at least certain scenes).

I never watch them in any sort of order anymore- I've seen every ep of TOS countless times, so I merely cherry-pick whichever ep I'm in the mood to watch that particular time.

As a result, some eps get watched 3-4 times to another ep's 1 time. Trek fandom can be a fickle thing. ;)

That's the beauty of having seen every episode multiple times...you can watch whatever episode that strikes your fancy. By this point I've seen TNG enough to do that as well.

First I watched the series in transmission order, then a few times in production order, then in transmission order a few more times, now I'm watching it in random order. (my current preference)
