In one of the "How to bring back Star Trek and other Space Opera" Threads, someone surmised one hurdle Space opera has currently is the general public is so distanced from Space and Space Exploration, with the shut down of the Shuttle Program, that they don't have any thoughts of outer space at all. Perhaps Curiosity can produce some excitement from the General Public to get them interested in Space again

Marvelous achievement nonetheless, I read a stroy on Yahoo this morning, and it's amazing all the little things that had to click just right, and how many things could've gone wrong to end Curiosity's usefulness.

That picture of it on the parachute is almost more impressive than the actual landing!
