Impressive driving

A car has skidded off the road in eastern Germany and landed on the roof of a church.
Police said the vehicle was travelling at high speed when the collision happened in Limbach-Oberfrohna on Sunday.
The 23-year-old driver missed a bend in the road and drove through a railing before careering up an embankment and flying 35 metres through the air.
Emergency workers had to free the man who was taken to hospital for treatment.
I wonder how fast you have to go for that to happen.

PS: For the metrically challenged, that would be flying 115 feet through the air.

When I saw the picture I thought, what the hell? It's impressive alright and pretty singular. Let's hope the guy doesn't have to pay with his life for it.

He's lucky he actually landed in the roof of the church and didn't just slam against its walls which would probably have killed him right away.

Reports are that he was driving at 170 km/h (105 mph) where 50 km/h was allowed (30 mph) and two police officers witnessed the accident.

And just to head this off, a few comments from another BBS:

"Clearly his car was due for a service."

"Clearly there is a market for drive-in confessions...."

"You'd think they would build churches strong enought to withstand mass."
