We have a few threads here in Miscellaneous that are very image-heavy, and most of them have historically featured a lot of content from Imgur. As Spaceman Spiff noted in his announcement, Imgur is not technically banned, so you won’t get any kind of official infraction for continuing to use it. However, we do respectfully ask you to consider your fellow board members in the UK, and try to avoid the use of Imgur so that all members can continue to see your content. Spiff’s announcement does include some alternate image-hosting services that you could try. I’ve personally used PostImage since the Photobucket debacle, and have found it very simple to use.
Thank you for your consideration of this matter. This notice will be pinned for a few weeks so that hopefully all Misc regulars will see it.
One further personal note: I just want to mention that I will no longer (knowingly) offer board reactions to content posted from Imgur. It doesn’t mean I don’t like your picture/video, but since our official stance is that use of Imgur is discouraged, I am concerned it will send mixed messages if I, as a staff member, digitally “encourage” its use. Sorry.
