I'm bragging!

That is awesome! The vocabulary and writing skill and also the thoughts that she is writing about. You've got a good kid there, look after her :)

Thanks. She also has an older brother and younger sister who are also smart as a whip! Believe me, it isn't easy raising kids who are smarter than you are!

That's great. She writes very well and she sounds like a sensitive kid-- I like how she puts the animals first. :D

Well done to your daughter, that's great. You should be rightfully proud sbk, and congrats to you and your wife :)

Here's a copy of her essay. Remember, she's only 5 (6 April 1). It's all her own words, but my wife helped her organize, which is allowed in the contest:

If I had lunch with the president, I would talk to him about many important things. The first thing I would talk to President Obama about is giving money to make more pet rescues, like Pet Orphans. They save animals and help them get spayed and neutered, so there are not as many homeless animals.
The second thing I would talk to President Obama about is making more jobs for the poor people. If they had jobs, they would not live on the street, and they would be able to buy food, and a house for their children.
The third thing I would want President Obama to do is help stop all the wars in the world. So many people get killed in these wars, and then their families are very sad. Sometimes children even lose their parents. If the president could help with these problems, then the world would be a better place.

How very idealistic and heartfelt... I kinda feel bad about how disappointed she's going to be when she realizes that only the dead have seen the end of war. Help her keep that innocence as long as you can.
