My 5-year-old daughter just won a writing contest. It's being given by the local chapter of an international educators organization. She won in the category of Kindergarteners and First Graders. She wrote about what she'd like to talk about if she could have dinner with President Obama. She'll win a $100 savings bond, and read her essay at a dinner (comped for her and my wife and myself). But for me, the prizes are irrelevant. It's nice to see how well she's learning, and how her future can be unlimited, if she keeps up the hard work and dedication to her education.
Basically, I'm a proud dad!
