You know, I can remember when all terrorists were Irish - and almost by default all Irish were believed to be terrorists. That's about as true as the idea that Muslims are terrorists. Where I live, most of 'em are doctors.

Add to that most of the people arrested this week were not immigrants at all, but foreign students, over here on education visas. The universities get as many of these people in as possible because they pay huge fees which make up for the fact that the government no longer pays enough for higher education.

Gwud, ask yourself this: what's the worst that could happen? Then, having pondered your own mortality, go and get on with your life, because bad things happen to everyone some time. I seriously doubt there's any risk to Manchester or Liverpool this weekend. The security will be too high. But there might just be a cell of this particular set of anti-islamic sociopaths in somewhere unexpected decide to bring their attack forward in the light of the raids. Maybe Cardiff. Or Bognor Regis.

Well we seem not to have been blown up so far, I will go to the Trafford centre later and buy some Easter Eggs.

It's not going to stop me doing anything, but its not nice thinking that something could happen.

It wasn't intended to come out that way, I didn't intend it to be a jab at either muslims or immigrants. Immigration is fine, muslims are fine (I don't hold religious people in very high regard, but I don't have a particular prejudice against muslims). It's a fact that most of the people being arrested for "terrorism", at least those reported in the media, are islamic.

That's because the only people that anyone is focusing on is the Islamics. You don't hear about the other terrorists because they're not the ones that the world is interested in at the point. And unfortunately, especially in America, a white guy doing bad stuff is a criminal- a minority, and specifically a Muslim, doing bad stuff is a terrorist. It's a huge double standard that no one notices or even seems to mind.

Unfortunately, unless I just know the wrong group of people (which I count out either), it looks to me like a much larger problem than just bigots. A lot of the people I have talked to have the views I described. The view on minorities in general misbehaving is split- some will look at them as criminals and some will look at them like terrorists. But the two constants are that there aren't white terrorists, and that most terrorists are muslim/ most muslims are terrorists. It's not a misconception I agree with, and it could just be a Wyoming thing since Wyomingites do tend to be a tad less accepting than other places areound the country, but it's a misconception that i've observed frequently.
