    Or failed to...
Imagine: It turns out it was just a guy behind a curtain... using all sorts of devices... Wait! I think I saw that somewhere... Oh, my!

There’s not much I would change with DS9, however:

-I’m iffy on whether I would’ve promoted Sisko by the end of the pilot episode or earlier than they did.

    -There would’ve been a Borg/Sisko rematch.

-Ro Laren would have been a guest star on the show, perhaps like the Trek Lit. novel “Wrath of the Prophets.”

-I would’ve definitely made the Hunters members of the Dominion.

-The Federation-Klingon War would’ve been more vicious. I think DS9, while expanding on the Klingons, made them too weak at times.

-I would’ve done some episodes with the Tzenkethi.

-I think DS9 would’ve been a good place to see the Gorn or Tholians again. Even though I do like the Breen, I think for a Trekkie perspective, if either the Gorn or Tholians had been the new allies in the Dominion it might have been even more special.

Why would the on-screen existence of supernatural beings prevent you from being examining the show in a unbiased way?

Unbised (objective) means you don't let your own preconcieved notions influance your study of the show.

In that case, I wouldn't have killed off Jadzia.

I would have let her be captured by the Dominion and liberated in the last episode, I'm sure that Farrell could have been persuaded to do a guest appearance.

Ezri could have been brought in as a totally new character, Ezri Tigan or could have been Jadzia's younger sister.

Otherwise I'm happy with the series. It has really been growing on me since I started to watch it in chronological order, episode by episode and I've really began to love the characters.

As you might know, I have had some problems with TV stations airing the series and malfunctioning DVD:s and such, therefore it has taken me a while to go through the whole series. But now I'm in the middle of season 7 and have started to dread the moment when I've watched it all.

However, if the Prophets (and my unreliable DVD:s) are with me, I will start a DS9 relaunch in the near future. :techman:

according to the observer effect (physics), simply by watching DS9, you are changing it.

Some colour might be nice. The station and the costumes were so drab. There's a reason shades of brown aren't very popular in tv/film.

And some proper nacelles on the Defiant.

I like that idea, but I think they killed her off knowing that she wouldn't ever return. Weren't there some behind the scene issues?

I'd not have the whole evil gods thing in season 7.

My one main 'complaint' is I felt like they didn't explore the gama quadrant enough. Needed more exploring episodes and less of the horrible mirror universe ones.

The muted colour palette adds to the richness of the overall look of the show. It's meant to be dark and dirty, its not the smooth clean lines of TNG, it's far more real and lived in.

I've seen some rumors about Farrel being unhappy with some things but never had it confirmed.

I'm into season 7 right now so I will wait with a statement until I've watched all episodes. But so far DS9 has been a great series to watch and I will start a DS9 relaunch in a very near future if the Prophets and my unreliable DVD-discs are with me.

I agree about the Gamma Quadrant. I had expected more exploring and adventures there.,

I must add a few things.
They should have had less "mirror universe" episodes. In fact DS9 was overdoing those "mirror universe" episodes. One should have been enough.

They could actually have skipped the idea of Bashir being a genetic altered person. Then we should have been without those other genetic altered characters. They were creepy.

Does this apply to other characters as well? Or is it just dating black women that's a "stupid limitation?" Cause there's a bunch of white characters in ST that only hooked up with other white people.

(I know this has been rehashed, but as a black women it rubbed me the wrong way. Like, having a preference for women like me is a bad thing or something.)

Absolutely, I'd be similarly critical of a white man (in the series) who would only date white women. The problem is that the future is supposed to be free of prejudice. I don't care what the actors do in real life because for one thing, it's their private life and nobody else's business but when a character shows so much bias he sends a bad message to the public about the series itself.

I'd say when Star Trek Beyond first and then Discovery showed characters openly gay. I said to myself "It's about time, we get some of that future ideal, they're talking about, even though it's still behind the times, it's much less that than it used to be." And yet I am completely straight; I just happen to be anti-homophobia as well.

Just one more thing. If I were prejudiced against black women as you seem to think that I am then I'd be perfectly happy that Sisko only dated black women as prejudiced people usually like the idea of white people remaining among white people and black people among black. It's called segregation. That's why it bothers me when an actor imposes such limitation on his character. It's segregation all over again, only this time initiated by a black person instead of a white one. It doesn't make it any less wrong.

But what is it that is supposedly so wrong about being attracted to a certain type of person?

I was never totally won over by the Defiant. I'd have a nicer looking ship.

I'd also try to extend the air of mystery around Garak.

Sisko also seemed to get less easygoing when he shaved the head (I could be somewhat imagining that but that is my sense of that character.)

Bashir didn't get the super intelligence that came from the augmentation. He had learning difficulties, he got the treatment, his intelligence become on par with everyone else. It was still illegal. So we get the Bashir is an augment episode and after that he wouldn't be the morbid character throwing out super intelligence quips that he was often written as. Bashir was subsequently somewhat ruined by that episode, imo.

I like Ezri but for me it was too late to replace Jadzia. I wouldn't have relplaced her and would've used that space to tie up some of the loose ends that didn't get tied up.

I wouldn't have made Rom Nagus. Dukat going mad was stupid. I'd have Alexander overturning expectations after being laughed at as a warrior.

Why can't Sisko like black women only? why does that make him a bad character in that respect?

As a prominent character in the open-minded multi-racial multi-species 24th century? That makes him a fossil! Jurassic Park meets star trek!
