If you could pick a vacation spot in Trek, where would you go?

That is such an awesome question. And really hard to answer. Haven, Pacifica and Risa definitely. I'd love to see Vulcan and Andoria just because they are so different to Earth and it would be really interesting to see just how different Romulus is to Vulcan.

The Nexus might be fun, if it's just for a holiday. And if you would have great difficulty leaving afterwards, that would be a lesson to never get too attached to your desires.

Anyway, with a holodeck at your disposal you'd of course not need to actually go anywhere- you could just recreate the spot.

Fun question, indeed.

EDIT: Oh, and I might consider Risa. But only for the archaeological excavations, obviously. Not sure whether the place would be worth it, given that there are other, potentially annyoing ... distractions ... there.

Hmmm... just a handful of examples from the top of my 200ns/500Latency memory cells:

  • Wrigley's is boring, all they do is make chewing gum. Then swallow it and wonder why they have all that stomach pain and ulcers...
  • Argelius II might be decent, now that Redjak is stuck counting all the Pi thrown at the Three Stooges...
  • That planet in the Delta Omicron system is a nightmare. Like Fantasy Island only worse. Imagine something and then you get it, with disturbingly bad results. People want to live there?! It's also ran by a being called "Caretaker". I bet he skedaddled off to the Delta Quadrant afterward, too, after telling Noonian Soong how to make androids...
  • Risa is "Planet of the PID" (Pelvic Inflammatory DIsease), bet you didn't know that existed -- and that's even more obvious than all the other dangers that the New Traditionalists there were complaining about... yes, that's not their name, but a cheesy namedrop to a somewhat decent Devo album...)
  • Baku is lame; once you leave all that magical healing goes away since none of the crew remained youngy and even Geordi had to get his implants back. It looks like their magic is confined to one little continent and the inhabitants are about as phony (thank you Mr Plinkett!), and incontinent if it weren't for the magic radiation holding back that pesky aging process a few decades...
  • Future Earth looked pretty cool...
  • Landru's planet went nowhere after Kirk nagged the computer to death...
  • So did Vaal's...
  • Jouret IV looked pretty nice... for a while... then it got a hole in one and a big one...
  • Sarpeidon looked great too, at least until their final BBQ and marshmallow roast... go back to the wrong time and a guy who looks like the skipper of the SS Minnow will call you nasty things

Yeah, future Earth is the best. :techman:

Wherever Jean-Luc wants to go, I'd be okay with just tagging along... as long as I don't have to wear any silver speedos, that is. I'd draw the line there. ;) (If I had to name a place I'd probably suggest Pacifica. Risa seems a bit too crowded.)

Yeah, they only mentioned Pacifica as a footnote, with less detail than "Wrigley's Pleasure Planet (and chewing gum)" (never mind Risa, hehe), allowing much more for that pesky imagination of the audiences to have fun with.

Perhaps a few 'alternative' destinations then for the more intrepid traveler (not me, personally):

The Deneva colony ( from TOS: Operation: Annihilate). For those of us who enjoy a little sensory stimulation every now and then.
Jouret Four (TNG: Best of Both Worlds) : for those of us who really could use some company
Rura Penthe: for those who like a little workout, and not in one of those overheated fitness rooms
The planet from the Thaw (Voyager): for those who like a little more excitement in their lives

Haven. I'd really like to get a good look of that planet.
Pacifica. I like the sea, so it sounds like a good fit for me.

I also have to agree with @1001001 that a massive and beautifully constructed space station like York Town (in whatever form that exists in the prime universe) would be glorious to visit.

I'd also say Betazed, but the parts we saw in Menage a Troi and Dark Page (through the windows) looked very pedestrian.
And well, Risa, I dunno if that's a place for me. And it looked like everybody and their grandmother took their vacations there.
