If you could erase five bands from ever having existed

Which ones would you pick? And try to make these lists interesting, i.e., not completely obvious choices that everyone hates anyway like Creed, Nickelback, or some Boiband, but bands that you hate and a lot of people like.

1. Bob Marley

2. The Who

3. The Eagles

4. Nirvana

5. Red Hot Chili Peppers
 
The Eagles
Green Day
The Clash
Limp Bizkit
Slipknot

I know it's not a list of classics, except for The Clash and The Eagles, but I couldn't list the Eagles 5 times :(

The other bands I listed all, IMO opinion, had a negative impact on music that came after them.

I'm a big Nirvana fan, or I was years ago, but as much as I hate all the bad band that got influenced by them, I think the good outweigh them.
 
Happily I hate loooooooooooooads of bands so once I erase 5 from ever being, there'll be plenty left. Nickelback would be 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th on the list but you said less obvious, so...

1. Disturbed, because they are and always have been a total joke and that joke hasn't been funny since 2001. Oooohwahahahah? Fuck off.
2. My Chemical Romance. Unlistenable, the very pit of emo and the evil that it is.
3 Metallica. They have never, ever, ever been good. Master of Puppets is the most overrated metal album in history and I'm sick of people who treat them as Metal Messiahs despite them never doing a damn thing even slightly interesting.
4. Guns n Roses, who I just wish would go away after all these years of waiting for their new album, which undoubtedly be utter crap anyway. Sweet Child 'O Mine is possibly my most hated song in history.
5. Oh this is tough. Just one more? How can I choose between Slayer, who bored me stupid live and have the worst fanbase in the world (roughly 99:1 utter twats to cool people ratio)
... or Mark Ronson, who is not a band I know but is also not a singer. He is a producer who ruins other people's songs and is also an utter **** of a person?

I'll let you all choose I think. It's simpler.

Queen, U2, ABBA, Clannad, and The Beatles.

Not because I dislike them (I love ABBA!) but because they were some of the most influential bands of their time.

So why erase them from history?

To see what would happen, of course! :techman: Duh.
 
- Nirvana, because of the deleterious influence their melodramatic brand of Emo-Punk has had on the music industry...

- Rush, because their singer annoys the crap out of me...

- The Sugar Hill Gang, so Rap would NEVER become mainstream or continue to exist. (And you old people all thought Disco sucked...)

- Limp Bizkit, because they're nothing but Rappers with guitars... (and they can take all their contemporaries/damned industry whores like Korn and Kid Rock with them.)

- Flyleaf, because I'm sick of hearing that 'I'm so sick' song all the damn time.

I like the way you think. Then again, I'd erase Queen and U2 anyway. I'd erase Queen especially twice.

Having heard the 9 song leak I gotta say that the songs are pretty good, but the production and performance style Axl has gone with are horrendous. There's loads of horrible electronic fills and intros, and drum loops (yes, drum loops!). It's fiddly, unnecessary, and anything good about the music is buried under so many layers of extraneous bullshit that nobody is ever going to notice.

I predict that if, and it's a big if, the album ever comes out it will shoot straight to number one on billboard for one week, then sink quicker than lead. After the first week sales it will become an unmitigated commercial failure, and will certainly get a phenomenal roasting from the rock press. Assuming the whole album is like the tracks I have heard that is.
 
David Bowie- I just don't get him or his music

Gnarls Barkley- they are way too pretentious

Led Zeppelin- All there songs are way too long.

Oasis- just garbage

Bruce Springsteen- just because of that harmonica thingy

A bunch of people posted boy bands despite that being against the rules too, so toss up Nickelback if you want. They've earned it.
