If Janeway kept sleeping, could Captain Chakotay've gotten them home?

Maybe they were considering firing Kate half way through Scorpion, but you don't put an actress into a coma unless they've pissed someone off. So, what if Janeway's coma was never miraculously cured and the Indian got to keep the centre chair... Janeway was an Indian Giver?

Weird.

So if every problem (episode) they encountered was practically the same, how far do you think Captain Chuckles would have made it before he stuffed it up or got the crew home?

Or you put said actress into a coma for the stories sake.

Plus it had to be Chakotay to be with the Borg the bulk of that episode. He hates the Borg so he had to be the protagonist for once.

And when they normally are planning to kill an actor off, or the actors status is in limbo, they do that at the end of the season. Equinox I and the Grey's Anatomy where George and Izzie were both dying and the outcome was aired in the season premiere are great examples of this

But no, with Chak in command the USS Voyager may have lasted a week.

Harry infected by 8472 at the end of Season Three means Garrett Wang's future with the series was in doubt.

Janeway in a coma at the beginning of Season Four means they just want a dramatic story and create tension between the characters.

The stupid episode with the weird talking idiot soldiers proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that Beltran couldn't carry an episode, let alone lead the show.

In-universe, Chakotay would have probably sent Seven back to the Borg on a shuttle, dooming everyone when the "Seven saves the day" episodes came along.

Re: If Janeway kept sleeping, could Captain Chakotay've gotten them ho

No Seven.

The destruction of the Borg and a foot hold by 8472 who may or may not been on a crusade to destroy all life in the galaxy. We found out later that they were just hamming it up for effect, but retro-activity don't mean much if that's not the intent when Scorpion was being written.

I wonder if Chakotay was willing to bite the bullet and make out with Cashack to save the ship?

Re: If Janeway kept sleeping, could Captain Chakotay've gotten them ho

If Janeway stayed in a coma, the audience would have been put into a coma too
I don't think Chakotay would have fared significantly better or worse. I think some of the tough decisions Janeway made helped them a lot, and I don't see Chakotay making some of those same choices. And of course, they wouldn't have gotten home, because they wouldn't have had future Janeway to conveniently help them out.
And of course, it would have been boring to watch.

Re: If Janeway kept sleeping, could Captain Chakotay've gotten them ho

Captain Chakotay would not have been on the shuttle guiding Voyager through slipstream which means that either Kim was alone or he had some other influence to guide him in the future in so how to help his friends out in the past and they wouldn't have had Sevens head to target the message at... So they crash into the ice planet and Kim won't have the stones to save the day, but with out the Janeway averting Genocide OF the Borg by 8472, Acturus wouldn't have faked the NX-01-a so that Chakotay never got himself the old of Slip Stream tech in the first place!

HA!

My spellcheck is telling me that when ever I am typing Chakotay that I am actually wanting to be typing "Chardonnay"
