If "First Contact" was made for "Voyager"...

...How do you think it would be?

With all the time-travelling and battles with the Borg the crew of Voyager had, I think it would be appropriate if the Voyager crew travelled back in time to stop the Borg from destroying first contact with the Vulcans.

I'm still not sure, though, how would they go there, since they were stranded in the Delta Quadrant, but once they did, everything would fall in place.

I can see, for instance...

Tom Paris instead of Geordi talking to Cochrane about his statue.
The Borg Queen trying to get by her side the Doctor instead of Data. (Or even Seven of Nine. Or both!)
B'Elanna saying "Assimilate THIS!" instead of Worf.

What do you think it would be like?

Janeway fighting the Borg would have been awful beyond belief (especially the "This line must be drawn here" speech).

I don't think it would have been as good, or as popular. I certainly wouldn't have considered it anywhere near as good.

It would have had reviews like "Why it does not feature the popular characters from Star Trek: The Next Generation is beyond me. Instead we are subject to a Spock knock-off and an ensign who's only function is to say "shields at 50%" over and over again".

Harry would have gotten assimilated, only to be replaced by a clone or some time travel paradox alter ego.

Also, I can see Chakotay giving the "The line must be drawn here" speech instead of Picard, and Janeway having an interest in Cochraine, instead of Lily Sloane and Picard. (They had, hadn't they? Even if it was subtle. At least I've got that impression.)
Oh, and Neelix being at a loss and awe of all these.
And I can so see the scene where Riker and Troi discuss, with B'Elanna and Paris instead of them...

That whole thing would actually be pretty funny...

Well let's see... Janeway would have been on the revenge bender, dealing with Alfre Woodard. The EMH would be tantalized by the Borg Queen's offer of a flesh-and-bone existence. Meanwhile, Chakotay, B'Elanna and Paris would have had to deal with Zephram Cochrane on the planet and the timely launch of the Phoenix. Likely Tuvok and Kim would have remained on the ship to fight Borg with Janeway. Neelix would be vaporized after the opening credits. At the end of the picture we find out the whole reason Janeway was so mad in the "THE LINE MUST BE DRAWN HERE!!!!" scene was because Neelix was offed before brewing her coffee that day.

My only answer to this is that Voyager made a better Borg movie in "Scorpions".

Have you seen Future's End?

Yes, but since it already used that idea for an episode, they could not use it again for the movie.

If, though, the movie was made instead of that episode, then yes, maybe.

Yes, Voyager only ever used ideas once, and never returned to them. Time travel, spatial anomalies, Harry Kim dying, Janeway saying "We have to out (whatever) the (whatever)". Thank goodness these were not repeated ad nauseam. Would have made the series quite irritating otherwise.

There would have been a large fleet of Borg cubes instead of just one. When TNG was involved, the Borg only operated with one cube at a time, but Voyager came along and introduced the idea of the Borg using large groups of them.

Probably becuase Voyager was in the Borg's backyard instead of what the Borg would consider the galactic boonies aka the Alpha Quadrant.
