IDW: TOS Year Four finale - and Borg Spotlight have arrived

I felt so greedy! Two IDW ST comics yesterday!

I picked up my copies of the final issue of "TOS Year Four" mini-series, and "Alien Spotlight: The Borg", in the CBD and devoured them in the 50-min. train ride home. I thoroughly enjoyed both issues!

Visually, "Year Four" #6 reminded me very much of the type of TV SF stories being told in the 60s but, with US child labour laws, it would have been an impossible script to film as live action. "Star Trek" comics can really excel when achieving things the original show couldn't have ever managed, SPFX makeup budget- or time-wise.

A great TAS cameo appearance, which I won't spoil here - and two Andorians!

"The Borg" was also very enjoyable and thought-provoking. For Admiral Janeway and VOY fans, another good guest appearance! And, as promised, another Andorian cameo.

I haven't had such an absorbing Trek comics ride home in a looooong time. Thanks IDW!

yep, i picked those both up as well yesterday.
Great to see more artwork from Gordon Purcell. I'm really excited for the upcoming Enterprise Experiment. The Borg spotlight was loaded, imo. Would have worked better had it been a multi-parter, would have helped space the story out a bit.

I thought both of these were really good issues. One of the best Year Four issues in terms of story pacing and actually filling the pages with interesting stuff.

The Borg issue made me a bit dizzy with all the technobabble in the first reading, but I just got through my second and got a much better hold of it, great issue! All sorts of great concepts in that one.

IDW are having a pretty good start to this year.
