Icheb as Borg bait

It seems to me that the second time that Icheb's parents sent him up to be Borg bait, that the Borg would become wise to the plot, as it takes awhile for the Virus to take effect after he gets assimilated again. The Collective would get his memories of what happened on the cube the first time he was assimilated and they'd put two and two together. I don't imagine the Brunali trying that trick again with someone else would work again.

I think the writers made a mistake by going with the action oriented ending. As you said, it doesn't really make a lot of sense to send the boy again, particularly when Voyager just flew off five minutes ago.

I think the human drama of the parents having to deal with what they did, and how Icheb and Seven react to the revelation how he was really assimilated, would have made for a much better ending.

wow...I didn't catch that. I got caught up with the horror of imagining a little child plopped onto a ship sent to certain assimilation.

If the Borg were dumb enough to fall for that trick once, they're dumb enough to fall for it again--especially because it's not much of a variation on the trick Data pulled in "The Best of Both Worlds" and even less of a variation on the trick Janeway pulled in "Endgame".

The Borg: the most advanced computerized society in the galaxy with the worst firewalls in the universe.
