Either ones you've seen & can give a short review of, or just ones you know were filmed in these countries.

Pathfinder/Ofelas 1987. Real Good. Sami tribe Lappland area. US Pathfinder movie was abominable horse----

Noi the Albino. Well, I liked it. Not a killer flick, but unusual & cool Icelandic scenery. http://www.aboutfilm.com/movies/n/noialbinoi.htm

13th Warrior. Classic.

Viking Sagas. Low budget, yet way cool. Again, great Iceland scenery.

Cool. Thanks. They get a bad rep for being plunderers, but they were also traders, artisans & explorers. & they should be considered heroes for stealing Gold & loot from Christian churches, who had stolen it from the people.

The Vikings didn't only plunder from the churches they also stole from local people. They weren't nice guys when they decided to go on a raids. They were far from heroes plundering Churches because churches or monasteries brought many positive element into local population, writing, medicine e.c.c.

Cold Fever, a strange little film I saw in the nineties. I don't remember much about it, but it was somehow stuck in my mind during all those years.

Maybe I should revisit it.

Didn't state they only stole from churches. Chrsitian churches did more bad than good you have to admit. Destroying Native cultures all over the world. Hawaii, Native American tribes, & Aboriginies,( rent Rabbit proof fence sometime), even Viking culture fell under the heel of oppressive Christian rule.

One of the most popular accusations was sexual communion with the devil, and this led to mutilation of the women's sexual organs. [17]. There is no denying that the Christian church spearheaded these sadistic acts. And Protestants cannot slough the blame off onto the Catholics, for far more witches were burned in Britain after the Reformation than before it.

Nuff said, this ain't the political section.

You are right this isn't a politic section but this article you linked is very one sided and very Anti-Christan. It is note worth that worst killers in 20th century were actually atheist or socialist Lenin, Hitler, Stalin, and Mao Tse-tung.

The point I was making was that Vikings get the Brutish tag, yet Christians were well MORE Brut-ish than the Vikings were on a good day. Not who accumulated the most murder in world history. Hitlers tenure was rather short compared to Christianity I might add.

While the celebration of pagan rites continued, a few temples were ordered closed, and others were destroyed by Christian mobs without subsequent imperial punishment. Indeed, Constantine himself had some temples plundered, and only the wooden frames of chryselephantine cult statues were left for the worshipers. Here the decisive factor seems to have been the need for the gold and silver sheathing of the statues to help finance the Emperor's elaborate building program.

You have to dissociate people that call themselves Christians but clearly went against teaching of the New Textament. In general the message in the New Testament are peaceful compare to many other religions. Evil and wicked people are found in every religious group. Can we please stop talking about relgion and focus on topic.

The Raven trilogy directed by Hrafn Gunnlaugson* are very good.

The Outlaw directed by Agust Gudmundson is good also.

That's a copout. Dissasociating from them doesn't change what they did & that they were Christians when they did it, any more than dissasociating from certain Vikings, Blue Berserkers for example excuses what they did. Live with it. I do.

Thanks for film heads up.

Check out 2005's 'Beowulf & Grendel' with Gerard Butler. Though the film is technically not set in Iceland, it was filmed there. And according to the DVD, none of the atmospheric effects were CGI'd - it was all natural.

Enemy Mine originally shot in Iceland, then switched to a Spanish Island. Parts of Beatles Magical Mystery Tour shot in Iceland.

  • The whole film was originally shot in Vestmannaeyjar in Iceland, but when the first director and the producers disagreed on something (budget probably), the whole project was shut down. Wolfgang Petersen took over the direction and reshot the whole film.
  • Shot in the Bavaria Film Studios, Munich Germany; the outside sets are shot in Lanzarote one of the islands of Canary islands in Spain (all the volcanic/lava landscapes and the green lake)actually you still can visit those landscapes at the Lanzarote's "montañas del fuego" national park. A few of the sets are still part of the studio tour.
