You uh...do understand that these giant icebergs are being formed by the break-up of the Antarctic ice sheets because of...er...a warming planet...right?

Not necessarily. An iceberg that large can last a long time if it stays at the right latitude, and can also potentially have a very disruptive effect on ocean currents. That's what a mass-calving of ice sheets in Greenland, Iceland, and the Canadian North is a worrisome concept, as enough large icebergs could theoretically shut down the Gulf Stream, drastically reducing the temperature of Europe.
I'm not saying this particular berg will do that, only saying "it's ice, it'll melt" isn't necessarily always true, or even without danger.

I actually agree, I'm just saying people tend to underestimate the "power," so to speak, of polar ice to influence global climate.
