Ice Cream Truck!

It's the first day of the year that I've heard the ice cream truck! Always a good sign.

I haven't actually bought anything from the ice cream man since I was little, but I've got a hankering for one of those baseball glove popsicle things with the baseball gumball in the middle.

I haven't seen, or heard, an ice cream truck for several years. Looks like they are another something that is fading away in my area.

It might be because I live in an area where most of the children have grown up. Maybe ice cream trucks still go to other suburbs were there are plenty of kids.

We get them every day during the summer. For the price of one ice cream you could buy a whole box at the store. But once in a while we give the girls a treat. It is fun after all to get something from the ice cream man.

As a kid my favorites were Italian Ice and the Cannonball. Of course they were about 15 cents then.

Hmm, I could go for an Ice Cream Sandwich or a Chocolate Hoodsie right now.

Our Ice cream man is very strange in that he comes round all year round, it's weird as I'm sure no one b uys anything in the dead of winter.

Yeah. I've seen ice cream trucks in the dead of the winter when I lived in Maryland.

I just heard the Ice Cream Man for the first time this week as well. I was actually really surprised because we live in an apartment complex and in the apartments I've lived in before the ice cream man never came. They are usually only on the suburban streets. So I was super excited the other day when I heard that familiar sound and looked out the window to see the truck going about 5 mph through our parking lot. It was actually pretty funny because the parking lot is L-shaped and when you get to the end it's really hard to turn around and get back out. So he was going so slowly into this dead end, and no apartments even face that parking lot, they are all on the other side.

I didn't buy anything, but maybe next time...I love those chocolate malts!

the company that goes around the neighborhoods in my town is Skippy's Ice Cream
they used to play The Entertainer on the roof horn . . . I don't know what they play now . . .
I used to like the red white and blue rocket pops :D

I've heard one driving around for a couple of weeks now but I've never actually SEEN it. Maybe it's not actually there and it's just my imagination playing a joke on me so I go outside for nothing.

You'd be surprised. When i was at disney, the cone shop would always have a line esp. in winter.

Ah, I also remember the snow-cone man! Loved them cherry ones and orange ones.

And what were the blues ones, again? Some kind of cinnamon or something.

I also remember the heartbreak of getting money too late and missing him as he drove down the block.

My penny pinching parents never bought me a thing from the ice cream truck while I was growing up. It was a bit traumatizing. As I grew older, I had no reason to buy from the truck because I'd get what I wanted from store. Then, I had a daughter and finally had an excuse to buy from the ice cream man! :)
