Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs?

This will be old news for some of you: the next Ice Age movie is called Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs.

The Ice Age movies certainly present an interesting version of prehistory: An ice age started during a time when early men coexisted with mammoths and an sabre-tooths (so far, so good). Then the ice age had a "meltdown" in the second movie, during the lifetimes of the original characters, making it seem more like a heavy winter than an age. Then the dinosaurs showed up.

Yeah, few expect realism from an animated kids' film, but since the first movie was relatively accurate prehistorically, it would have been nice if the sequels had continued the trend.

yeah it is almost like they are going backwards...

The first one was great, second one... eh...

I would have had infinite problem with this premise when I was a kid. Of course, I was(and still am) a geeky little dinosaur fanatic.

Well you had that alien ship buried in the ice in the first one.

Based on kid watch frequency, IA 2 is the winner in our house. Kids are looking forward to it and the new Madagascar movie...

+1

Even as a kid, I would have been raising an eyebrow and declaring in a rather priggish tone that I was not amused. I was also a geeky dino fan. For at least one summer, I'm sure. :D

From the first teaser released a few months ago with Scrat, you can see the squirrel tumbling down some kind of geological well. A nod to Jules Verne's Voyage to the Center of the Earth, certainly. So no biggie...

scrat does make the movies... well at least he made the second one somewhat enjoyable..

Hey, as long as it has Scrat, it's gotta be good. Right, Omnius? ;)
Who needs dinosaurs when you have sabre-toothed squirrels...

I bet they could make a feature length film just about Scrat and still have a blockbuster. :techman:

yes, the teaser on the front of Kung Fu Panda showed Scrat falling into some kind of lost world of dinosaurs, so, let's wait and see what happens in the movie before we all go mad with the PREHISTORY FAIL! complaints...

Damn if you're looking for historical accuracy in a kids movie..
wow I hope you didn't overlook the talking animals :p.

I'm not looking for historical accuracy. I'm just saying pointing to dinosaurs living in the center of world doesn't make it more accurate. ;)

I'm going with the "If it has Scrat it can't be all bad" bunch. My little boy loves those flicks-so this gives me one more weapon in the battle for peace and quiet.;)

maybe not, but if they're living in a hidden land, ala the Savage Land or the Lost Valley of the Dinosaurs, it kinda negates the OMGWTF Dinosandmammalstogether?!?!?!?!1!?1?!/1 crap...
