He should play a long-time frenemy of Picard. They have completely different views on solving the galaxy's woes, with McKellen's character having the more extreme approach. But every few years, circumstances force them to work together. And every time, McKellen ends up going off on his own again because they can't quite reconcile their differences. ETA: Yes, he played Gandolf the wizard. Kor
He reminds me more of a young Elrond with his dark hair, the sword (Elrond's favored weapon, too.) and even his name starts the same and Elnor is just missing a "d" to have all the letters of Elrond, too. Legolas is just so blond, his most iconic weapon is the bow and otherwise he fights with two long knives.
As I said in another thread Ian McKellen needs to be the new Borg queen. If anyone has seen McKellens dame Maggie Smith impersonation, that is how I would want him to play the borg queen
This is the Picard-related Star Trek character I never knew I needed in my life but now I want it to happen with all my heart.
I think Wallace Shawn (Grand Nagus Zek) should be the Goblin King. Morn should play the guest of Gollum's pub who never speaks up because once he speaks, he never stops talking
We already had a Romulan senator in exile encountering Picard in this episode. It didn't go very well for him....
