I wond-ah...

QuasarVM

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
I wondah if the new cast ever thinks to themselves -- "I could be playing this role for the rest of my life."

they have no frickin' idea.

I hope they've said a quiet goodbye to most other viable roles by now.

(I'm being cynical here. I hope they aren't typecast and their careers flourish in all directions)

They are all contracted for at least 3 aren't they? So they must have figured the possibility was there for a least a 6 year span of being involved with Trek. That said, I think that they all have a fairly well-known body of work behind them at this point that they should be able to avoid any typecasting.

Yes, and the fact that this is starting off as movie rather than being a movie based on a TV series might actually help them avoid typecasting as well.

that's true, most of them are well known (at least in the USA) for some of their previous roles. Cho will always be Harold and the MILF guy to some... Quinto will be Sylar... etc.

the only problem might be Pine. but he's got that certain something to actually pull of a box office star career methinks.

good looks?

Well, Pine in the scene with Urban is actually a good actor.

I doubt he will be typecast as such. However, im hoping that the careers of these actors arnt practically destroyed by typecasting of the masses.

Simon Pegg and Jon Cho are probably the only ones that were typecast BEFORE the movie is out as comedy actors. Or in Pegg's case, writer and actor.

I dunno, i doubt they will be typecast as much as Fat Shat and co were back in the day, but we'll see.

Yeah, Pine seems good and versatile. I think this Kirk business might even help differentiate him from many other twenty-something attractive actors.

Zoe Saldana has a major role in Jame's Cameron's Avatar, so she may need to worry a bit about getting typecast as a sci-fi film star -- especially if both Star Trek and Avatar are the huge blockbuster hits their respective studios are hoping for.
