I will not double dip dammit!

Ok, I've heard the BD versions of the TOS movies are very good quality and I joined the blu revolution some 18 months ago, but dammit I knew it was wise to wait until the regular DVD releases were given the royal treatment and dammit if I'm not going to do the same here.

Who's with me?

It's an easy decision for me, not having an HD set-up. They'll probably release an even better version in a couple of years, with the latest encoding and the alternate director's cuts via seamless branching.

I won't either. I just want the movies, and have all of them except for Nemesis. I don't really care what is coming to Blueray or whatever since they will probably have better ones in the next few years.

Yeah, I can imagine when direct downloads finally start the quality will be far in advance of blu-ray. But its just I like to have my Trek movies in the best versions on the market...and without good special features and the director's cuts I don't see these as a complete upgrade of the DVD versions.

Same here. I didn't even upgrade TWOK or TSFS when the Collector's Edition DVDs were released. I still have the bare bones editions of those two, and I'm satisfied with them.

I didn't buy the bare bones editions of the movies, I waited for collector's editions, knowing they would eventually come out after the director's cut of TMP was released. I have all ten of them now and while it may be standard DVD, it looks great on my simple stereo TV. So I see no reason to go out for Blu-Ray players or HD TV. I'm quite content with these movies as they are as well. And I'm sure that come October or November there'll be a nice two disc set for Star Trek and I'll pick that up then too.
