I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE!

What are your favorite examples of old enemies exacting revenge against the good guys either in the world of movies, TV shows, or books?

The only example I can think of is the Wrath of Khan. The havoc Khan caused in that one movie alone.

Uhhh...True Grit, maybe?

The problem is that revenge is a generic motive that doesn't say much about the character. Take Luke Skywalker for instance - revenge was his simplistic character motive till he learned the truth about Anakin, and then he got more interesting because his struggle became internal and specific to him.

Another example: Nero's revenge motive was the weakest aspect of Star Trek XI.

There's a scene in Tom Clancy's novel Without Remorse where John Clark gets revenge on one of the bad guys by putting him into a hyperbaric chamber and kills the guy in it.

I recently watched 'Law Abiding Citizen' and it is certainly one of the better revenge films. Ending was a let-down, but there really wasn't any change of a satisfactory ending there, since the closest thing to a relatable protagonist is an insane murderer.
