But I have no idea what song or clips to use... It'll probably focus on Data, since he's my favorite character, but most of the good songs have already been done (like "Mr. Roboto" and "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger").

Maybe a Data/Geordi friendship (NOT slash) vid with Queen's "You're My Best Friend?" Hehe!

My music is kinda limited as well. B-52's, Weird Al, Queen, video game remixes, and 80's music make up most of my collection.

And I have ALL seasons of TNG on DVD, so clips should be no problem assuming Handbrake will format the clips in a filetype that Windows Movie Maker will accept.

I don't make them any more but I made music videos back in the 80's. For me inspiration usually came from idly listening to the radio. It's amazing what random tunes can lend themselves into a music or fanvideo. I hope you find a suitable song that you enjoy and get around to doing a video. I really enjoyed making them - and that was back in the days when all you had were two videos, no fancy editing gear!

Take a bunch of clips from Lore/Data and set it to the song "Sabotage" by the Beastie Boys.

Im sure you could easily put together a good story/video with those clips.

This is so true! I've made vids for songs that I still hate, years later! Best songs are ones that you kinda like, that way there's not much wasted if you grow to hate it.
