I think this alternate universe is screwed (spoilers)

The beautiful thing about this new timeline is that anything is now possible. We can have a different 7 year mission for the Enterprise, we can have a different Ent-D etc, Kirk doesn't have to die on Veridian 3, the Dominion war can take a different path.
A Klingon task force is destroyed by Neros ship and the transmission Uhura picks up on seems to imply the Klingons know it was a Romulan ship, so in this new timeline do the Klingons declare war on the Romulans because of Nero's actions? the entire Star Trek universe can be re-written.

Will the Federation even meet the Borg in this timeline? if there's no Picard and no Q then why would they? no Borg, no first contact therefore no Borg in Archers time sending a signal to the Delta Qudrant.

We are looking at the beginning of a whole new universe and i'm certainly excited by it.

How do we know if Vulcan was that important in this universe? let's not forget that the events that happened in Entrprise and First Contact might have been altered in a huge way because time travel was involved in those events. Maybe Earth made first Contact with the Andorians instead of the Vulcans and they help humans go to space ,sooner than the Vulcans did. Even if that plays out the same it does mean Klang might not crash in Oklahoma so maybe Archer's first mission doesn't take place until several years after it did on the show. Also we know that they are familiar with the Carddisians and it's possible they may already know the Ferengi. Perhaps they are already alleys with them or maybe in the case of the Carddisians they are even a important member in the Federation. Let's not forget the Carddisians use to be a peaceful people.

Spock already knows what to do. He knows how to time warp (ST4). Just go back to before the Narada emerges into 2233, wait for it to show up and before it can react, blow the hell out of it.

Were talking about an interstellar government that spans thousands of light years, presumably millions of stars, tens of thousands of colony worlds and dozens of member species.

None of this is really given. We know that there were around 150 members in the late 24th century, so given that growth would probably be exponential, there's probably only 30 member planets at this time. Since only 10,000 Vulcans were said to have survived, that doesn't say much about the number of colonies. If humans sent out a colony ship of 1,000 people every year since the Federation was formed, it would only be roughly 100,000 people plus their offspring. That's a drop in the bucket compared to billions of lives. Simply put, colonies aren't going to be formed in large numbers, and they are going to be weaker and less influential in the Federation's economy.

A planet of 6 billion slipping off the interstellar radar would probably be the equivelent for the Federation of what 9/11 was to the western world. A big wake up call, but the very fabric of society didn't come apart.

A planet being destroyed cannot be compared to 9/11, period. Your implication that they are similar in death toll implies that the Federation would be comprised of 600 trillion individuals. Since that would imply 10,000 planets just like Vulcan, we know that isn't at all reasonable.

A better analogy, like I mentioned earlier, would be if all of New York was destroyed. That would be a huge hit on the economy, and if we knew that the future contained pivotal battles in a war, the US would probably not be successful in those battles.

Actually the information posted on the movie site says the Federation has 120 members at that time.

And has it ever been stated or shown on screen that Vulcan was really that important.

wich is interesting in that if the Cardassians have enetered into an alliancewith the Feds this could prevent the military on Cardassia from coming into power.
