I think I found a way to increase ones enjoyment of relaunch novels

Something I tried while reading Fearful symmetry was to play the DS9 intro from season 6 (I'm sure any season would do) which I found on youtube, and it felt like I was watching the show. I'm pretty sure this could also be done for other relaunch series. So anyone think I discovered a cool new idea or am I just crazy.

No longer read many Trek novels but back when I did I would put a series appropriate soundtrack on while reading. The effect was often amazing and always enhanced my Trek reading time.

I've heard that helps... I just need peace and quiet- esp. for the dramatic parts, or cool battles. So I usually read at night.

But I find an open mind and appreciation for the characters helps- that way you keep reading even if a few pages or a character doesn't really stick with you.

Orchestral music at a low volume, is helpful and fun sometimes for certain... but I'll never forget the dead silence total, overwhelmingly complete experience of reading the end of Unity in the middle of the night, in dead quiet with my booklight in my dark bedroom. So it depends I guess.

i never really needed anything special to help me read, but ill try the theme song appropriate for the book i am reading

Haha I usually hum the theme of whatever series I'm reading.. usually right after the prologue or something. I used to listen to Harry Potter soundtracks while reading the books, and that helped immerse myself in them even more.

I guess my problem is that the intro music always bugged me- esp. DS9 (not because it wasn't nice or whatever) but because... the credits are slooow and at least a minute long, and then there were commercials... and I just wanna watch the show!! It... bugs me! If the opening had been about half as long... then maybe I'd be less harsh, but...
