I Seen

Starbreaker

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
For the love of Zeus, will people ever stop saying things like:

"I seen that new movie last night"
"I seen you at the mall"
"I done seen it"

It's "I saw"

This is all. Thanks for reading my rant.

Actually, this is one of my biggest peeves. I cannot stand when people say this to the point where my tongue bleeds keeping myself from correcting them. Gawd, I seen and, I got, just drive me nuts.

More often than not, I saw rather than I seen.

But, what's wrong with I got as in "I got you a fancy pencil for Christmas"?

The only one that drives me nuts is could/couldn't care less. I probably wouldn't mind so much it is just that you almost never hear it correctly.:scream:

That one's so ambiguous that I use "indifferent" to convey the same idea.

Edit:

Nothing. But i have heard it used incorrectly, and that kinda drives me nuts.

How so?

Things like, "I got a headache". should be "Ive got a headache", or "i have a headache". I got, in that sense, is pretty much the same thing as the misuse of "I seen".

I never said "I have got a headache" wrong. I said "i got a headache", was wrong. But is "i have got a headache" wrong? I wasn't sure.
"I have a headache" sounds much nicer anyway.

Hey, now i DO have a headache!

Enough about "got." Let's talk about your use of commas! :p

Well, commas go inside quotation marks.

I know, never did like that rule, but that's how it is.
