My good friend Sook manages a cluster of Asian Food places, you know the omnipresent Americanized Chineese Food Joints that are everywhere... Along with a chinese buffet/mongolian BBQ eatery.

Well they also do catering. Local company decided to do Chinese food to celebrate a new product launch.

Sook called me up and asked me if I wanted my pick 200 eggrolls, 500 potstickers, 500 pieces of "meat on a stick," trays and trays of other appatizers and pans of entree.

Apparently while the managment thought this was a great idea, a couple of people in the company subscribe to the mythos that all chinese-food consists of dog/cat meat and is cooked in bug-infested moldy-ass back-ally joints. They managed to convince everyone else this was the case and no one ate anything.

...most of it's going to homeless shelters around the area as I can't eat 500 potstickers in one go. :D

She was quite upset about this, but apparently it's not the first time this has happened.

If I understand this correctly, the company paid for the food, no one ate and now it's going to homeless shelters. Seems like the only losers here are the people who refused to eat.

I love Chinese food, both authentic and Americanized. I neither know nor care what's in it or where it was cooked. As a matter of fact, there aren't many kinds of meat I'd be unwilling to try, including cat, dog, and long pork.

She should call the cowards out and have them shot.

I like Chinese food, unfortantely since I have to cut back on carbs and sugar, Chinese restuarants are on my once a year list now.

I"d also recommend that your management team tell everyone that the company will no longer offer any food at future events.

This didn't happen where I work, Sook called up and offered me a share of the leftovers 'cause she knows I love potstickers and meat on a stick.

Hell the boss found out AFTER and was all "call her back and get me a gallon drum of sesame-chicken!" :D

Who doesn't love potsickers and meat on a stick? It's meat, on a stick, it's brilliant!

They even have two kinds! Generic dark-chewy soy-sauce-drenched kind and ligher stringy not-as-soy-sauced kind!

(One is supposed to be beef one is some kind of chicken, I don't care. MOAR FOR ME!)

The US restaurants may not put dogs and cats in their food, but the actual Chinese people in China sure do.

My friend ate dog while he was visiting over there. He said it was fine.

I've never heard of anyone that though Chinese food had cat in it though, that's weird! :p

I generally dislike Asian food, but I do enjoy potstickers.

I don't like it because of the flavors, not because of a nastiness factor.

But, I will say, that I used to order some chicken dishes at Chinese restaurants but had to stop because they totally gross me out. The chicken does not look anything like real chicken, it is hard, crunchy in places, with hardly any meat. I really do feel like I am eating rat or something. I love chicken and that stuff isn't the way it should be cooked. That's the problem I have with the meats...they either taste all hard with little edible meat, or they are totally fatty. There's no good in between stage like you get with a yummy garlic roasted chicken.

I love chinese food, even if I usually pay the price for it the day after (and I'll leave it to that...). About the 2nd rate meat, it's just an old urban legend: half xenophobia and half bad publicity from competing restaurants. I'm sure that there are some unsanitary joints in the bunch, but it's true of any category, from Italian places to steakhouses.

must admit i love chinese food, it's better when my partner cooks it though dunno why it just isnt the same from a takeaway

I love Chinese food. And Thai food. And Vietnamese food. And Japanese food. :D

There's actually an awesome Chinese take-out place just around the corner from my apartment. I go there a lot, the food is delicious, cheap and plentiful.

I wasn't the biggest fan of Chinese food, but like most things, it varies depending on where you go. Now I like it and wouldn't say no if anyone was eating out.

I can definitely recommend this Hong Kong styled restaurant in Lincolnshire I once went to.

Chinese Food has been a special treat for me since I was a little kid, especially Spare Ribs and Chicken Fingers. When I was very young, back in the 60s, my parents used to get Chinese Food every Friday night and save me some Spare Ribs; and every Saturday at Noon, I would have them for lunch while watching Outer Limits on Channel 56.

Those people who refused to eat their food are despicable idiots.
